time to bloom

i just got back from a great weekend down in san diego. i had such a nice visit with my grandma (visiting from texas). we sipped on margaritas, took in the sun and even did a bit of thrifting. 
i try and take advantage of the great landscape surrounding my aunt and uncles house for outfit pics when im there...since im sure your sick of seeing my backyard and the street in front of my house! but i must say....wedges are not the greatest shoes to be hiking up a slate covered backyard in. rob was dear enough to let me wear his chucks while he waited at the bottom of the hill..patiently...so that i could throw him his shoes once i got up the mountain.

some things just never go out of style. while in seattle my sister in law let me look through a box of clothes left over at her house by the previous owner. when i pulled this dress out (i think its from the 50's) i was quite impressed with the quality and condition it was left in. absolutely beautiful. reminds me of an old chanel dress.  it fit me perfectly which is great because im not the most patient person....i hate getting something new only to have to wait for it to be altered. its the sort of dress that really doesnt go out of style...and i felt nostalgic wearing it.

lost and found

told ya......im tryin out the flowers and really they are not to bad. specially when there is black somewhere in there. ooh and i found these little grey gloves in portland...love. now mind you i didnt actually wear the gloves into work not because of the fact that ANYTHING out of the ordinary (im talking literally jeans and tees) gets ridiculously picked apart....its just that the gloves are not really feasible for working on the computer all day.

hmmm...i think i might have lost my sd card to my camara and im freakin out! i have been looking for it everywhere. it has all my pics from czech and i havent been able to download them all yet......ugh...so sad.
ill scour my car tomorrow.

bowtie

i think i am officially over my short hair.....hence the up-do. im growing it out (yeah i know....already) and its going through the aptly named "awkward" stage. im glad i cut it because it was so damaged...i just wish it grew faster so that i didnt have to wear it up so much, which is ironic because thats another reason why i cut it in the first place...because i wore it up too often. total catch 22!

frills

i bought this jacket from zara i think about 2 years ago and i love finding new
ways to incorporate it into my ever evolving wardrobe. its one of those staples i 

just cant part with. to my delight, there was this beautiful editorial in last 

months vogue (hmmm i think it was vogue). where a frilly skirt was paired with a 

gorgeous military jacket. i cut out the pic and saved it in my inspirational folder 

for an appropriate day when staring glassy eyed into my closet wondering what in 

the world i was going to wear would not suffice as being an excuse for being 

late to work. so i guess you could say it was a ready made outfit and i didnt even 

have to purchase anything new! its a win win situation!

laundry day

this is what i wore to do some errands the other day (when the weather was appropriate). one of the errands was the good ol laundry mat.....not because we dont own a washer and dryer but because it was time to wash our patio cushions and i wasnt about to try and stuff them in my dinky washer. let me tell you...with a little bit of exertion you can shove quite a few pillows in one oversized washer! i must say i wasnt too suprised when later, we realized some didnt even get wet!...ugh oh well they were just as compfy as before (we just decided to put the cleaner ones within eyesight).

soooooo since i love stripes and im trying to incorporate more flowers into my daily wears i found this dress so apropos because it includes both! not that you dont notice that. i have no idea why i have such a hard time with flowers...i mean really they are so cute. sometimes i just think...not on me. but ive got my toe in and i think i like the temperature....so maybe ill dive in....another day!

mix it up

when i leave the house every morning i always seem to want to grab this sweater i got a couple weeks ago outside of redding. now that i think of it...i seem to do that with a lot of things...for example these new steve madden wedges. i want to wear them everyday but...i try not to! i guess im a creature of habit...i do the same thing with my favorite restaurants, movies and my favorite bands. my husband is pretty over me wanting to eat at jersey mikes, wearing my striped cardi, wedges and singing to white lies....ha ha

red roses

i think today goes down in the books as one of the loooongest days of my life! have you had one of those days where nothing seems to be going right? well that was my day. hoping tomorrow is better. maybe its just a bad case of "the mondays". enough about me...thats not really why you stopped by anyways right? thats rhetorical...of course.
picked this cute little dress up in san fran. if you havent noticed im a big fan of anything mini so it fits in nicely with my overflowing closet. it has a great contrasting zipper on the back...toughens it up a bit ;)

overpriced

so there is a story behind this striped shirt. which i love btw. we were shopping in a little area in seattle called kirkwood and found this cute little boutique with some really unique little pieces. we got to talking to the (quite young) owner who was a former hb resident and he was telling us how he is trying to bring more l.a. brands to seattle. so i felt the need to support a former resident of my home town and decided to buy this tee for $37 which honestly didnt seem too pricey at the time until a few days later while in san fran i came across the same shirt for......hold it.......$17....uh yeah. totally bummed. 
oh well what can you do. oh and these are my new jeffrey campbell boots!! got them from villains in san fran.

that party

remember when i was telling you about the vintage dress i got in la? well i wore it to an anniversary party on sat. when i first got it, it hit mid calf which was a bit long for me seeing as how im only 5'4". i wanted to keep the volume so i just tucked it under and stitched a straight line across the top. i ended up sewing it twice cause it was so short the 1st time..i dont thing anyone would have appreciated the view....ha ha. then the hook and eye broke and i had to literally sew myself into it....you should have seen me contortion into a position so that i could reach the seam! gotta love vintage!
nonetheless the extra fabric created great volume and i felt like a princess and had such a great night with my love, my sis and my brother in law. me and my sis are kinda known for our funny face pics so i thought i would include a few.
