More military

This is one my favorite finds of all time. An old blue wool military jacket I found in Japan. I cant believe it fits...like a glove! These boots were a bargain as well $40 at Loehmans in San Francisco.
See you next year!!

Red, White and Happy all over!

Laying in bed until 11:00am is by far the best thing about vacation! Im still on vacation for 5 more days! I can barely contain myself. I wish there were more thrift store options in Huntington Beach (or at least around us). I went to Salvation Army yesterday and found 1 skirt and that was it. I'm wishing I didn't pass on my pickings at Amvets in SD last weekend...UGH! If you have any suggestions, let me know!

Mirror Mask

Not sure if you have heard of Mirror Mask by Jim Henson (yeah the Muppets guy) but you gotta see it! Its a great movie and the CGI, is amazing! Its about a young girl who gets mistaken for a missing princess.

Sherlock Holmes and Polka Stripes

I went and saw Sherlock Holmes today. Great movie and not only because of the debonair men in it. Their personalities are very similar to the characters in Sir Arthur Conan Doyles book of short stories based on Holmes and Watson. It's a must see! Have you seen any movies lately?

10 days of BLISS

I am usually off for a good 10 days for the holidays and my favorite thing to do is to turn on the heater, slip on my slippers, pour some hot chocolate, make some popcorn, open a bag of cookies (notice I didn't mention baking them myself) bury myself in my big purple blanket (which actually needs to be thrown out, since I've had it FOREVER), and re-watch some of those old movies I only watch this time of year. Man, that was a workout just mentioning how I prepare to relax. Whoo I think maybe I need to add some more shopping to REALLY relax. Or maybe I'll do some of those great DIY projects I've been seeing.
Enjoy!

How do you relax?

Pssst I did do some vintage shopping the other day, cant wait to show you what I got!

Enjoy!

Tweed-y Bird

I ventured into Goodwill last week (Benaydrl in hand) and picked up not 1 but 2 gorgeous tweed jackets. This one already had nice sized shoulder pads in them which was perfect cause I wanted to wear it right away. I love being able to spend only $10 on a good quality little blazer!

So, I think everyone knows that I'm a G-Star nut. I love the detailing they incorporate into everything and the jeans ALWAYS fit perfectly, no alterations necessary. I have a million pairs (well maybe like 20 pairs) but who's counting right? The details on these cotton green military pants I got a few months ago are amazing. Definitely worth saving up for since they are a bit pricey. So worth it in my opinion.
I try not to take too many pics of them for the blog.....don't want you to go stir crazy now, would I?

Military and lovin it

I seem to pair my little green jacket with EVERYTHING. This is the 1st time I paired it with skirt, let alone a hot pink skirt. BTW I NEVER EVER where pink, is that so wrong? I think this is LITERALLY  the only pink thing I own. I like the hot pink/black combo on accessories...well actually maybe only a cell phone cover (because I owned one). Hmmmm how do you do pink?
Oh yeah, please ignore the translucent legs....its winter right?

Hello Officer...
Um....why cant I wear a skirt?

Color Me Mine

My sister got me this wonderful blue silk strapless dress and I love it. Thought I would add some more color with this mustard knit short-sleeve sweater....that way no one will miss me in a crowd.
My favorite vintage find is this braided brown leather menswear belt. It goes with everything. Even my cow print heels!

How Do I Do Rodarte?

So, I was utterly shocked when I arrived at Target yesterday at 7 o'clock..um...PM not AM...to find some Rodarte garments left. I was even more surprised to find the one dress I wanted (screenprinted leopard lace) in a size 3!! Without trying it on I grabbed it and ran....only to stop in my tracks and grab this mustard yellow lace cardigan as well. Out the door with my recycled bag in hand with the biggest grin on my face...much to the dismay of the holiday shoppers with the look of utter confusion on their faces.
Then....I got home. As I type, I remember the sadness that befell on me at 7:30PM yesterday evening. I stepped into the leopard dress admiring the cute bows so ingenuously sewn onto the back...perfectly centered. Only to be let down by the ill tempered zipper! Oh it worked fine.....it's the bust area that wasn't working for me.....a good 7 minutes later I got it zipped. I thought to myself, "I don't need to actual move in this right?"...Nah! Then when I looked in the mirror, I realized how ridiculous I looked. It was entirely too tight on the top and too loose.....way too loose on the bottom. Well at least I have the cardigan right?

Popcorn and slippers

Why in the world am I watching X-Men Origins?? My choice was Pride & Prejudice and I was outnumbered yet again...maybe its because I want to watch Mr. Darcy whenever its movie night. Oh well maybe next time!

Oatmeal and Leather

Sometimes I feel like I'm walking a fine line..then I focus on what's important to me. The love of my life (talented photographer here), my family and my dearest friends. Remember I love you all!
When life gets tough I try and remember the things that have made me laugh in the past and hope that no ones around when I decide to laugh out loud again.
Which reminds me....I read the funniest quote the other day "The man who can't visualize a horse galloping on a tomato is an idiot". Hilarious!....and at least I'm not in public!
